Can I Replace My Regular Job with an Online Website Business?

Internet Marketing

There is no doubt that right now the economy is in bad shape. Unemployment is at an almost all-time high and getting a job can be impossible. If you are lucky enough to already have a job, then you better not quit it, even if you have an online website business. Technology changes fast and an online website business that is thriving today may not do so well in six months.

That may seem like pretty scary news, but it is true. Many people were wiped out in the dot-com boom of the 1990s because they assumed it would go on forever. Companies who had found their niche and frittered away their money were shaken to the core when their niche completely disappeared. You don’t want that to happen to your business.

  • An online website business can be successful in the long-term, but you have to be able to move fast, adapt to new technology, and not hold on to something that is no longer working. Much like a bad relationship, when the going gets too rough, it might be time to move on to a new mate!
  • Have a plan. Know where you are today in the market and try and plan where you will fit into the market a year from now. Of course no one knows where technology will take us, but if you can establish a Plan B and a Plan C if things go south, then you should be safe.
  • Keep learning. Don’t let technology pass you by. When new software comes out, learn it, use it, and become an expert. Things change so fast online that even a few months without advancing can cost you.

Yes, you can replace a full-time job with an online business, but you have to be careful and you need to make sure you have a back-up plan. After all, fail to plan and you are only planning to fail!
